More than half of Asian American women 50 and older are believed to have osteoporosis. And many of them do not know it.
The Chinese Bone Health Day, organized by American Bone Health and supported by Strong Bones for a Healthy Life, an alliance created by Amgen and Anthem Blue Cross, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 3 at the Chinese Culture Center, 750 Kearny Street 3rd Floor in San Francisco.
The event will be presented in Cantonese and includes talks about osteoporosis and bone health, a calcium-rich lunch and screenings for fracture risk, posture, balance and strength.
The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Seating is limited. For more information about our Bone Health Fair, please visit www.americanbonehealth.org or call 888-266-3015.
The Chinese Bone Health Fair features Dr. Kenneth Chang, an internal medicine doctor in San Francisco who will talk about osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment and Dr. Ivy Kwong, a physical therapist, who will discuss prevention of bone loss and fractures.
