Great Resources for Preventing Falls

If you've been reading BONESENSE for even a short time, you know that a major cause of broken bones in older adults is falls. Falls and fractures can reduce older people's ability to move around freely and comfortably. They can also decrease their independence and quality of life.

Fortunately, the opportunity to prevent falls among older adults is better than ever before. Communities, public health officials, and individuals now have access to free intervention programs that can help older adults live better and longer.

The links in this article offer excellent information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Council on Aging (NCOA) about preventing the falls that can cause fractures. Some of the resources include strength and balance exercises and others show people how to prevent falls at home. We at American Bone Health encourage you to check them out.
