The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) is a professional, scientific and medical society established to bring together clinical and experimental scientists involved in the study of bone and mineral metabolism. ASBMR encourages and promotes the study of this expanding field through annual scientific meetings, an official journal (Journal of Bone and Mineral Research), the Primer on the Metabolic Bone Diseases and Disorders of Mineral Metabolism, advocacy and interaction with government agencies and related societies.

The Bone and Joint Decade is a global, multi-disciplinary initiative targeting the care of people with musculoskeletal conditions--bone and joint disorders. Its focus is on improving your quality of life as well as advancing the understanding and treatment of those conditions through research, prevention and education. Bones, and the joints that create function and movement, are connected by muscle and ligaments. Their state of health and how they enable you to lead an active and healthy life is what the Decade aims to improve. The International Bone and Joint Decade provides a recommended reading list.

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has helpful tips on physical therapy and bone health called Move Forward as well as a directory of physical therapists in your area. 

The Female Athlete Triad Coalition, formed in 2002, is a group of national and international organizations dedicated to addressing unhealthy eating behaviors, hormonal irregularities, and bone health among female athletes and active women. The Coalition supports cultures that promote healthy athletic environments, establish public policy, effect change in national and international governing bodies, eliminate inappropriate dietary treatment practices of female athletes, provide education about the Triad, and determine the scope of the problem through research.

The Best Bones Forever!™ campaign from the U.S. Office of Women's Health encourages girls to get active and eat more foods with calcium and vitamin D. Get fun tools and resources for girls age 9-14 and their parents about bone health.

The International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) provides educational and networking resources about skeletal assessment. This is a good source for finding a doctor trained in bone densitometry and osteoporosis.
