Extension for DXA reimbursement
Friday, 23 December 2011 10:52
The Senate and House both passed HR 3630, “Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011” by unanimous consent. The legislation includes an extension of the current Medicare rate for DXA for another two months. The DXA relief provision was part of a larger bill that extends unemployment benefits, continues the payroll tax holiday and avoids the 27% SGR payment cuts for another 2 months. Medicare payment for DXA will remain at a national average of $98 through the end of February.
The short-term fix requires Congress to revisit all of these issues when they return to Washington after the holidays. As always, we will be there to work with you toward our ultimate goal of finding a permanent legislative fix to the DXA reimbursement problem. Many thanks for your help and patience as we continue our work on this critical issue. If you have any questions contact Donna Fiorentino at dfiorentino@iscd.org or 860-402-2159.
