Belly Fat linked to bone loss

A new Harvard study of obese and overweight men shows an increased risk for bone loss and fracture. The connection of belly fat to bone health appears to be lower growth hormone secretion and lower vitamin D availability - both important for bone health. Vitamin D tends to get trapped in the fat cells rather than circulating in the blood stream and being available to the bone for calcium metabolism.
